Recyc'Leather & Roctool
Using and hybrid technology of thermoforming and plastic injection I worked on how to decline a material made from recycled leather. The leather waste comes from the cutouts of clothing and accessories. It has no plastics on it. The potential of this material for "hard" luxury accessories like phones cases or even premium packaging was clear, I only needed to find the best way to make it possible to obtain a product ready to launch in an almost one-shot process. Thus, I explored how to work with hybrid two-phased molding technologies to mix this leather with post-consumer recycled resins. After an iterative work with both suppliers (technology and material provider) I was able to create an astounding prototype of a product. NOTE: All parts have the same shape due to this being the only mold available for those trials.
